Lovely Family Separated Because of Her People's Needs

Aung San Suu Kyi has to be far away from her beloved family because of her people's needs and her faith. Michael Aris (Aung San Suu Kyi's husband) died on his 53rd birthday on 27 March 1999. Since 1989, when Aung San was first placed under house arrest, they met each other only five times, the last of which was for Christmas in 1995. Aung San Suu Kyi was also separated from her children, who live in the United Kingdom, but starting in 2011, they have visited her in Myanmar.
